  • OVER 10 MILLION LIVES ARE LOST EACH YEAR DUE TO HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE YET ONLY 50% OF PEOPLE AFFECTED ARE AWARE THEY HAVE IT

Elevated blood pressure (BP) remains the No.1 contributing risk factor for global death, causing strokes, heart attacks and other cardiovascular complications. In 2019, an estimated 10.8 million deaths were attributed to raised BP which was completely undetected in most of the victims. A simple, one-minute check could greatly reduce this number.

May Measurement Month (MMM) is an annual global screening campaign initiated by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), aiming to improve awareness of BP and hypertension at the individual and population level. More than 4 million people have been screened in 100 countries, and almost 1 million people have been identified as having untreated hypertension so far.

May Measurement Month 2022 will take place between 01 May – 31 August 2022 and builds on the WHL’s established World Hypertension Day (held on 17 May each year) with volunteer health professionals at local screening sites, in more than 85 countries.

Servier supports this initiative from the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) from the start (2017).
